“Never Ending” was initially designed for the Floyd Quilt Guild’s 2020 quilt show challenge, prior to Covid.
I proceeded to create and machine embroider circles onto other overlapping circles. Circular quilting and various sized round buttons, perle cotton threads, lace and ribbon complete this original, innovative Art Quilt.
During its construction, amidst the intense reality of the Pandemic, many sayings ran through my mind: Full Circle, Circle of Life, Circle of Friends, Circuitous, Round and Round We Go, Round About as well as Perpetual Motion, a term I often feel describes my non stop, full, and happy life!
“Brighter Waves”: Some of my family and I sought refuge- during the pandemic-at our Beachhouse.
This playful felt based quilt is a reminder of our time there!
The sunny days and ocean waves provided a playground of activities for three generations living under one roof together.
Batik fabrics and cheesecloth were machine quilted to create a colorful beach scene. A few hand quilted sun rays completed my design.
I then secured handmade yoyos and whimsical flower buttons with perle cotton threads.
Fiber embellishments were included in both the water scene and uniquely used as an edge treatment to this joyful artquilt.
