I've been painting on and off for about 40 years. In the early 80's I started with acrylics in Hawaii painting sweatshirts for the tourists. Experiencing what I now look back as the commercially motivated “grind” of art… selling out to my soul's higher calling.
Now… I paint what I want to paint. What I am inspired to paint. What my soul wants to share, express or simply create for the pure joy of creation! Whether it sells or not, isn't my focus. I find joy and freedom in oils using alla prima (wet on wet) techniques.
The theme of this exhibit is “memories”. As Albert Einstein said, “the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion” and “Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy”.
I’ve gathered together some of my favorite works and with each one summarized how… “memories” flow to and through each painting. Enjoy, as we flirt with the illusion of past, present & future… with the energy of “memories”!
